Church Facilities Manager

Job Opening:  St. John United Methodist Church located on Greene Street in downtown Augusta, Georgia, is seeking a part-time facilities manager.  The position is 20 hours a week typically Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Work hours outside this schedule may be necessary depending on the circumstances.  Candidates should be able to work unsupervised and have the following skills:  Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems; MS Excel and Outlook skills, an attention to detail, a customer service orientation and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.  

Job Description:  The facilities manager will perform routine maintenance tasks (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.); coordinate more extensive repairs by contractors; supervise custodial and grounds maintenance; coordinate volunteer activities; maintain logs of repairs, equipment, requests; other duties as required. 

Qualifications:  Must be able to work independently and with church staff and membership. Must have a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems; should be able to use Excel and Outlook; must be able to climb a ladder and be able to lift 50 lbs. (not necessarily concurrently).  A customer service orientation, an attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload are also requirements.  Need a valid driver’s license and transportation.  The position is 20 hours a week typically Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; however hours are flexible and different hours may be necessary depending on the circumstances. 

Pay: $20-$25/hour

A background check and drug screen will be required of the successful candidate.

Prefer experience in a church setting or other non-profit.
