St. John UMC Reopening Phase 2 beginning May 2021

All current state, federal, and CDC guidelines will be followed in the church building and at the lake property, including, but not limited to, mask-wearing and social-distancing. Updates/changes will be communicated to the congregation.

Worship: A masked, vaccinated choir will sing for worship. Congregation will not sing until restrictions are lifted. Acolytes and worship leaders will process on opening hymn. People may place offering in offering boxes before or after service. Individual communion cups will be available. Worship reservations are still requested for matters of spacing and contact-tracing. Nursery will be available. (May 18 update: reservations no longer needed,)

Lake worship will proceed at Clarks Hill. 8:45am with various speakers, June – August.

Education: Elementary children and youth will meet in Room 109 and/or courtyard for Sunday School. Adults will meet in Fellowship Hall for a lectionary-based study. CDC guidelines currently advise mask-wearing and 3 feet apart in classroom settings, indoors or out. Nursery will be available.

Music: Choir rehearsals will be on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary or choir room. Nursery will be available, as needed.

Events: We continue to exercise caution. The Ladies’ Tea will be held outside in courtyard May 15. VBS will be held outside at lake property June 4-6. Memorials, meetings, and classes can be held in approved rooms that have upgraded air filtration, such as, but not limited to, the Fellowship Hall and classrooms 108 and 110.

Rentals: Renters of our Greene St property and Clarks Hill lake must adhere to all our guidelines (current state, federal, and CDC) and understand that rental contracts can be terminated should COVID numbers/factors change in our area.
