School is almost back in session and teachers are heading into the unknown. We, as the church, are IN the community and FOR the community. We are here to build up and support the heroes among us.

Let’s remind some teachers that they are, in fact, heroes! Davidson Fine Arts is one of the closest in proximity to the church, and many of our St. John members are a part of Davidson.

Our project is to deliver 45 gift bags to the faculty of DFA on August 24. St. John will provide the (small size) bags and a note from the church. We are depending on you to provide the rest. We want the bags to be similar, but they don’t all have to be exactly alike. Below is a list of what we would like the contents to be. If you could contact us with what you can commit to providing and how many, we can keep the list updated with our needs. So for example, you don’t have to commit to all 45 gift cards or all 135 pieces of candy, just sign up for however many you are able to and let someone else provide the rest.

Note: If you think of anything else you can contribute in increments of 45 that’s not on this list, let us know. For example, if you and a friend can team up to crochet 45 book marks and would like to commit to that. Or, if you know of a business owner who would like to commit to donating $5 gift cards or something else from their business. Let’s think outside of the box! What can you provide?

  • 135 pieces of candy
  • 45 drawings/notes from children (place in an envelope to avoid damage)
  • 45 $5 gift cards to various places
  • 45 new pencils
  • 45 face masks (bonus if they are hand-made)

You can bring your items by the church any time between now and Thursday, August 13. The church office is open from 9am to 3pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ring the buzzer and place your item in the green wagon inside. Or contact Lindsey to pick the items up from your home.
